Lovely, Quiet Place in the Country!
My husband and I spent Memorial Day Weekend at this rental and had a wonderful experience. It is truly a hidden gem. We booked a last minute trip to Fredericksburg and were fortunate that this house was still available. It's a two-story home on 30 acres about a 10 minute drive northwest of Fredericksburg. Close enough to come and go to town easily, but far enough away to be away from the crowds. The property is very quiet and peaceful and a good place to relax.
This house is a 2 bedroom, 2 full-bath home that is immaculately clean, neat, and tidy. One of the full baths is upstairs and is shared by the two bedrooms. The other is downstairs and has a tub/shower combo. The rooms are large and spacious, the beds (both queens) were very comfortable, and the kitchen was large and well equipped. One unexpected treat was that the owners had left breakfast in the fridge for us: sweet rolls, donuts, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, orange juice, coffee, and creamer. We weren't expecting that and had brought our own food for breakfast, but it was a nice little extra. Although there is a TV with DVD and CD movies, there is no internet in the house. We didn't mind that at all, but just something to know in advance.
The owners, Don and Nancy, have a separate house on the property, about 200 yards away, so nearby if you need anything. They are a very nice couple who make you feel welcome, but give you your privacy. One of the nicest parts of our stay at this property was the abundance of wildlife that we saw out the windows and from the 2 porches. There are a large number of deer that graze near the house off and on all day long. And the owners have a herd of sheep that also graze nearby. Some are so friendly they walked right up to us and let us pat them! This rental is very near The Hilltop Café on Hwy 87, so a good place for dinner if you don't want to eat in town and drive back after dark. We didn't eat there this time, but have in the past and it has good, down-home country cooking. You need to go just to see how it's decorated!
We were very comfortable is this home, were very relaxed, and will definitely stay here again when in the Fredericksburg area. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting to be near town, but away from the noise, crowds, and tourists.
